Is the media Bias...towards Obama???

When it comes to media coverage of this election, some call it over the top for President elect Barack Obama. Is there media bias?
Well, some proclaim that since the beginning of this election that there has been a definite bias for pro- democrat. The media has been covering this election from the very get-go and even though it may seem like the media is bias or pro- democrat I believe that they just have been very thorough. The country has been ready for a change for some time now and that is why they are so positive about Obama.
John Hopkins, a metro Atlanta republican stated, “ The press has been very one sided, very pro-democratic. Bush haters if you will. It’s more of the same, but it’s over with and we have one president at a time and I am excited for him”.
For Hopkins to be a republican and relay a positive message about our new president is refreshing. It would positively wonderful if everyone would be supportive of our new president.

  1. It's interesting that the complaint against media bias in favor of Barack Obama (in the linked article) was made by a key supporter of Hillary Clinton. This sounds like sour grapes to me, and is typical of the side that is losing in an election. I suppose you could argue that the coverage of former President Bush was biased, unless you thought he was doing a really bad job, and then you would have to say that it was mostly accurate! I think our opinion of bias depends on which side we are on, particularly when it comes to politics. Your example of Hopkins' statement that the media is favorably biased towards Democrats is an example of this. For the most part, I thought that the media made an honest attempt to portray each candidate's strengths and weaknesses.

  2. It seems as if Hopkins is bias and a litter bitter if you ask me. "Bush haters","pro-democrat" he states. If that isn't biased i don't know what is. Of course the media is all over this election. Not only is it a chance for change and a big event as it is (it is the presidential election), it is history in the making. We have been giving the gift of being able to be a part of history. The first black President has been elected during our generation. The Presidential election isn't the only moment in history that has taken place recently. David Paterson, the 55th governor of New York is not only the first black Governor of New York, he is also the second legally blind governor. 2009 is definitely making it's mark in the history books and i am thankful and privelaged to be a part of it.

  3. The media will always have somethiing to say or be bias one way or the other. I don't think its about being republican or democratic, it should be based on who can be the most positive entity for the United States as a whole.

It never fails, no one will ever be happy, but once the change has come and is obvious, they will complain no more.

  4. It doesn't matter who is in office or what the media is biased about. They are always biased on something. In this case the only reason they are pro-democratic is because they saw what the last eight years of Bush did for our country. I heard on the CBS telecast of the Inauguration that he ahd the lowest approval rating in the modern era at 22%. That just goes to show you that we were ready for a fresh change and they knew the Democrats would be able to bring that change to our country and our struggling economy. I am a registered Democrat, so I agree with what Hopkins had to say and I think we will be supportive of our new President if he does what he promises to do in his term.
