Octuplets mom...crucified by the media!

The story about the woman who gave birth to Octuplets has really hit the roof. As by now everyone has heard of the 33 year old woman who gave birth to eight newborns recently. The idea of someone purposely trying to get pregnant when they are already single, and have six other children ranging from the ages of 2 and 7 was definitely the talk of the town. Or should I say country??

The public and media have ridiculed Nadia Suleman, mother of fourteen children, but I feel it is necessary. I personally feel like it is absurd and disgusting that a woman would want to do this to her body and raise all of these children by herself. But, the fact is that my opinion doesn’t matter does it? NO!

A woman should have any rights that she wants and even though I don’t necessarily agree with what Suleman has done…I don’t feel the media ever has the right to crucify someone like this.

  1. I agree with you Carrie 100 percent. My question is did the doctor's know that she alread had six children. I'm not sure what she was thinking, but I think it has back fired. Remember back in the day when a woman had more than one child they received help from every conceivable sponsor possible. But, now no one is giving Nadia Suleman the help she needs. She has a big responsiblity and the question is will she be able to handle it.

  2. This story qualifies as sensational news, and therefore, it will remain in the headlines until there is no more negativity to expose. The media is responsible for making this woman a celebrity, albeit a negative one, but a celebrity, nevertheless. I understand there is a book deal, movie rights, agent handling offers, etc. So, how has the media missed the obvious person to crucify in this entire mess? How about the irresponsible doctor who implanted EIGHT embryos into this woman? Even if he didn't know about the other SIX kids, it was a danger to the mother to carry so many babies and, as everyone knows, an almost 100 percent danger to the preemies who were born and had a huge chance of having physical challenges they would carry with them for their entire lives. As a taxpayer, I don't like this, but I really feel sorry for all 14 children who will not be brought up in the best circumstances. The doctor is the one who should be in the news, and he should have his license revoked for practicing irresponsible medicine.

  3. I agree with both Diane and Carrie on this one. The doctor should have known about the six kids she already had. Does anyone ever wonder why Nadia Suleman isn't getting any help? It's because noone cares that she had these eight kids. No one is going to help her because they realize that it is a big responsibility to raise 14 kids. I don't blame them. She did this to herself and now she must live with the decision she made. No one else made that decision for her, she did it herself. Since the media has already blown it out of proportion, they need to stop talking about it. People get tired of hearing about this story after a while. Great post!

  4. That's the beauty of the first ammendment, free speech. The media makes their living off of utilizing and maximizing this right. As a matter of fact, most of the stories we read about, hear and see are all made possible by fabricating, elaborating and picking apart peoples lives. On the subject of Suleman and her family, i am completely discusted by what she has done. She already leaves her mother to take care of her 6 children, who is going to take care of another eight? To make another point, she has spent tens of thousands of dollars on invetro fertilization and had the doctor purposly implant 8 embryos to stir the media. Along with looking for the limelight and someone to pay for all of her children by producing a television show based on their lives, she has also spend thousands on cosmetic surgery to mimic the look of Angelina Jolie. I don't think we should support this type of behavior at all. Now she will look to the government for financial help which will intern come out of tax payers pockets, our pockets.

  5. I dislike it when the media over expose a story too much or if they invade the privacy of others. I think it is disgusting that this woman is just getting pregnant on purpose especially if it's not by the same man. But on the other side, as long as she is providing the food, shelter, and nurture that the children needs to survive, than we can't be that mad at her.

  6. i feel that this women can do whatever she wants with her body and incorage her to continue to have kids, if that is what she desires. if she loves kids and is a good mother, and feels that god put her on this earth to give as much life as she cqan and raise those kids that are put into her arms uip to be the best they can be, then more power to her. the ability to choose for yourself, and the choice to have kids is what our troops fight for everyday, and i feel that, if she wants, spread the love. besides if she doesnt want these kids, she is definitly not aborted them, they can easily be given to orphanages and given to families who can not bare children. i think of it as god's ppublic service.
