Is the media too hungry??

One thing about the media is that it is always the first to report when something tragic, wonderful, suspicious, intriguing, or just entertaining unfolds. Well, recently I fell like the media just likes to grab any sort of attention with false “just in” news.

Well, on March 17th news hit that British actress Natasha Richardson was dead. The Time Out New York published an article saying that the actress was officially deceased. After their story was released the oh..so famous “ha ha” Perez Hilton got a hold of the news and he then went on to write on his blog that Natasha was indeed dead.

Fact of the matter is that she wasn’t dead at all and the newspaper had “heard” from a source the wrong information.

Why do the media love to thrive on these horrible events? I understand if it has to do with our country, but the fact that it was a young woman, mother, wife and talented actress I just think it is horrific that the media wants to somehow reap benefits from a horrible tragedy like this.

I feel like the media just wants to have anything to talk about and in that sense it will go with stories that may not even be true. The media is like a herd of hungry wolves just circling its prey waiting for the next tragedy.

Will Obama pass the midterm...?

Since Obama has been elected the 44th President of the United States he has definitely taken some negative feedback from the media.
The new backlash that the media is talking about is…”Will he pass the midterm…?”
Well to some of you that don’t know, the elected President each year is always graded to see how much they have done for our country and if there has been any change for the better or worse.
The media is asking questions like…”How long will voters give President Obama to turn the economy around?” The fact is that Obama inherited all of the issues that we are dealing with our economy and it is going to take some time to fix things.
According to the media Obama has to fix the economy or he will be a one-term president. I think that is a little unfair because there are so many other issues that he wants to change and that I know he will change but right now the economy is pretty much the #1 priority.
One of the other main issues is universal healthcare, and Obama is trying to fix things but it will take time.
The media is saying that he can’t improve healthcare because of the economy and he can’t fix the economy because of issues with healthcare. So basically they aren’t even giving him a chance to improve anything.

Media drools over Stewart's comments about Obama...

Democrats have longed for a president like Obama. We have waited for someone to come in and take charge and make a change for the better.

Well, recently some feel as if certain democrats are turning their back on President Obama.

Recently, the Obama administration unveiled a plan to start moving veterans that have private insurance out of the VA system and have them treated privately, with their own coverage.

Since the administration announced this proposal they have backed down, but many people were not happy.

The administration stated that it would have dramatically altered the way the department of veterans affairs handles insurance claims.

Well, that is fine with me.

But, the issue is that some are saying that democrats have been turning on Obama.

For example: Jon Stewart, after his late night show a few days ago there has been quite an uproar of blogs and articles describing Stewarts’ bantering.

The fact is that Stewart is known for his “say it how it is” approach. If he doesn’t agree with something he will say it.

The fact that republications are thriving on the thought of a democrat changing their mind about Obama…

is ridiculous…

Jon Stewart, will always believe in Obama. He may not agree with everything Obama says, but he still supports him.

The media just loves the negativity of it all…

Is the Media thriving on Madoff scandal...?

Before Bernard (Bernie) Madoff pulled off the largest scam in America I had never heard the term and certainly never used it.
Driving home from school today I heard it at least seven times.
There have been many Blogs out there and articles stating that the Madoff scheme is pulling in a tremendous amount of media play. The fact is that people need and want to know when they are getting ripped off.
J. Max Robbins, Vice President and Executive Director of Industry Programs, states that there are two book deals on the way about Madoff and his world wide scheme.
I don’t really see a problem in someone writing a book about the situation but, I do agree with Robbins that this is an example of another scheme.
There are so many money hungry people out there that they will thrive on others losses…just to make a quick buck!
The media is focusing on stories that deal with corruption.
Some feel as if maybe the media is focusing on the “bad” guys on purpose.
I don’t know…I think if someone screws over innocent people the way that Madoff did …he deserves what is coming to him!

Is the media making the economy worse...?

It is a known fact that we are having tough times with the economy. With people losing their jobs, pension plans, and decreasing stock value we have a right to be scared.

Well, some are saying that the media is causing more problems by broadcasting stories of hard times, that the Medias consistent negative portrayal on our situation is causing even more damage to the economy.

I don’t really know if we should be blaming the media itself, but that is why people are acting the way they are. It is human nature to try to stay safe when we feel as if we are in danger. It is proven that when times are tough people save instead of spend.

Is this really hurting us more?

Consumer reports have said that the media outlets should be highlighting solutions and context and positive stories.

I don’t know if that is the solution. Why would we want to sugar coat everything? I feel as if we should always know what kind of situation our economy is in.

Why would you ever want to live your life with a candy coated reality of how the world really is?

Microsoft asks for severance money back from employees...

So everyone has been hit really hard with the recession that has been taking place. There have been so many lay-offs and so many companies that have shut down…it’s SCARY!

But, Microsoft did something that might have gone too far.

The Microsoft Corporation launched one of the largest lay offs in history a few weeks ago. About 1, 000 people were let go from their jobs with a severance package. Well, little did some of them know that they would have to return some of the payment that they had just received.

Microsoft claimed that when they sent out the severance checks that in some of them there had been an error or glitch. They claimed that 25 of the 1,000 people received $4,000-$5,000 too much money and they wanted it back.

The letters from Microsoft surfaced on the Web last Saturday and caused an uproar with many people. Microsoft tried to explain that it had been a mistake but the media and public were having a field day with all of it.

Lisa Brummel, Senior Vice President for human resources, took most of the backlash from the public and decided o just let the employees keep the money.

By Monday morning there was a new letter stating that Microsoft was very sorry and that the employees could keep the money.

So, I guess by the media being so forceful it helped out these employees. If there would have never been a leak on the Web this action probably would of never happened.

Octuplets mom...crucified by the media!

The story about the woman who gave birth to Octuplets has really hit the roof. As by now everyone has heard of the 33 year old woman who gave birth to eight newborns recently. The idea of someone purposely trying to get pregnant when they are already single, and have six other children ranging from the ages of 2 and 7 was definitely the talk of the town. Or should I say country??

The public and media have ridiculed Nadia Suleman, mother of fourteen children, but I feel it is necessary. I personally feel like it is absurd and disgusting that a woman would want to do this to her body and raise all of these children by herself. But, the fact is that my opinion doesn’t matter does it? NO!

A woman should have any rights that she wants and even though I don’t necessarily agree with what Suleman has done…I don’t feel the media ever has the right to crucify someone like this.
